Keep Your Engine Running with Expert Battery Service at Celebration Chevrolet

Your vehicle's battery is more than just a way to pump your favorite music through the sound system. The battery is an integral part of running some of the most important systems in your car, even providing the spark your engine needs to start. Without proper maintenance, your battery will wear down and become less effective, potentially leaving you stuck on the side of the road waiting for the tow truck. Don't let that happen! The expert service technicians at Celebration Chevrolet can help you out!

Why is Battery Maintenance Important?

As we mentioned earlier, your battery does a lot to power your vehicle. Not only does it help to keep the exterior lights on, but the battery is also responsible for the electronics inside your car, as well as the spark needed to get your engine started. Without a battery in excellent working condition, you might notice a dip in performance or an inability to start your car on the first try. By scheduling regular service appointments with our Chevy service team, we can notify you when your battery will need replacement and take care of it for you!

Signs You Need a New Battery

It's not always easy to know when you need a new battery, but there are a few signs you can watch out for when it might be time!

  • You Have Difficulty Starting Your Car, or the Engine Won't Start on the First Try
  • The Battery is Old or Starting to Age
  • Your Exterior or Interior Lights are Starting to Dim
  • Your Vehicle Electronics are Starting to Fail or Cut Out Intermittently

Should you notice any of these signs, we recommend you reach out to our expert Chevy service technicians and schedule an appointment.

How Often Should I Have My Battery Replaced?

You can always refer to your owner's manual for specific guidelines on when to schedule service, but our team recommends that you get your battery checked after three years of use. Around five to six years, you'll want to get it replaced with a new battery to ensure your vehicle's optimal performance.

You can also replace the battery on your own if you're a do-it-yourselfer!

  • First, open your hood and identify where the battery is, as well as locate the positive and negative posts.
  • Using a wrench, loosen the bolt or nut that holds the negative terminal in place to the negative battery post.
  • Use the terminal puller to remove the cable and terminal from the negative battery post. Then, do the same with the positive terminal.
  • Remove the clamp holding the battery in place.
  • Lift the battery out and place it to the side.
  • Ensure the terminals are free of corrosion before inserting a new battery.
  • Position the new battery to ensure the red, positive post will match up in the right location.
  • Insert the battery and secure it with the clamp removed earlier.
  • Connect the positive terminal to the positive post first and tighten the connector until it's snug. Do the same for the negative terminal.
